The Lake Como EDITION Hotel Review: An Honest, Mom-Tested Take on Lake Como’s Newest Luxury Stay

September 8, 2026

What it’s really like to stay at the brand-new Lake Como EDITION with kids in tow

The Lake Como EDITION just opened its doors on the shores of Lake Como — and as both a luxury travel advisor and a mom of two, I had to see it for myself. I brought my husband and our two daughters for a firsthand stay, and I’m sharing exactly what worked, what to know before you go, and why this brand-new property has quickly become one of my favorite recommendations for families dreaming of Lake Como.

If you’ve been eyeing Lake Como for your next family trip, this review will tell you everything you need to know — and at the end, I’ll share how booking through me unlocks perks you won’t get booking direct.

Why We Chose the Lake Como EDITION

Location matters enormously on Lake Como, and this one is a winner. The hotel sits just north of Grand Hotel Tremezzo and a few minutes south of Menaggio — close enough to everything, but with a quieter, more residential feel. We relied mostly on private boat transfers to get around (the classic Lake Como way to travel), but we also hopped the evening ferry back from Bellagio, and it was easy and quick.

The real reason I booked this hotel for my family of four, though, came down to the rooms. The EDITION offers rooms with two queen beds and a lake view — a configuration that’s almost impossible to find anywhere else on Lake Como. I priced out two connecting rooms at several other five-star properties, and I still would have needed to book a full suite to comfortably fit us. Here, we didn’t. That alone makes this a standout choice for families who want a lake view without needing (or paying for) a suite.

Arrival & Check-In

Check-in was smooth and thoughtful from the first minute. We were welcomed with champagne for the adults and fresh juice for the girls — a lovely touch that immediately set the tone. My one small tip: confirm with the desk when they’ll return your passports, since that hand-off isn’t automatic. A minor detail, and one quick question solves it.

A Genuinely Family-First Team

This is where the hotel truly shines. The staff didn’t just tolerate having kids around — they lit up around them. Team members regularly stopped to say hello to my daughters throughout our stay. One night, my three-year-old couldn’t sleep, so we brought her down to the lobby bar. The staff brought her an apple juice and, completely unprompted, a little Lego toy just for her. She felt like the most special guest in the hotel, and honestly, so did I. It’s the kind of moment you remember long after the trip ends.

Rooms & Design

If you love clean, modern luxury, you’ll be right at home here. The rooms feature beautiful marble details and a contemporary aesthetic — a nice contrast if you want to be on Lake Como but aren’t drawn to the older, more traditionally grand style of properties like Grand Hotel Tremezzo or Villa d’Este. Our room and the surrounding common spaces felt fresh, elevated, and effortlessly stylish.

One more perk worth knowing: the EDITION is part of Marriott, so your stay earns (and can be booked with) Marriott Bonvoy points — a nice bonus if you’re already loyal to the program.

Breakfast, Dining & the Bar

Breakfast was genuinely delicious, with plenty of healthy options — exactly what you’d expect from an EDITION property. One morning we opted for room service (a worthwhile 10 EUR upgrade), and on the mornings we ate in the restaurant, the team happily worked around our schedule once we let them know we needed to leave by a certain time. The fitness room is also excellent and, like the food, on par with what you’d expect from the EDITION brand.

We didn’t get to try the spa on this trip, but the hotel offers an extensive spa program that’s now on my list for a return visit — likely a couples’ trip without the kids next time.

The Floating Pool

The pool sits just across the street from the hotel, floating right on the lake — a similar setup to Grand Hotel Tremezzo. We had no trouble grabbing loungers for four of us at 3pm, even in peak season. A couple of things worth knowing as you plan: entry is via ladder only, with no shallow end, so it’s better suited to confident swimmers than very young children. The pool also gently moves when boats pass by, which is honestly part of the charm of swimming on a working lake — just not the spot for reading a book without a little sway. Bellmen were excellent throughout our stay; bags took a few extra minutes given there are only two elevators, but on departure, our car was packed and ready before we’d even finished checking out — a wonderful, stress-free way to end a family trip.

Good to Know: The EDITION’s First Season

Because the Lake Como EDITION only just opened, our stay came with a couple of the small, easily-fixed hiccups you’ll sometimes find at any brand-new property finding its rhythm. One of two elevators was briefly out of service, which meant the occasional short wait, and our floor ran a little warm one evening — the team had a fan delivered to our room right away, and it was a total non-issue for the rest of our stay. There are no shops on-site, so it’s worth packing anything you might want in advance. None of this took away from what was, overall, a wonderful stay — and it’s exactly the kind of thing a great front desk (and a great travel advisor) can smooth over before you even notice.

Is the Lake Como EDITION Right for Your Family?

If you want Lake Como’s iconic scenery with a modern, design-forward feel — plus a rare two-queen lake-view room, a team that adores kids, and an easy-to-love pool scene — the Lake Como EDITION is one of my top recommendations for families right now. It’s a wonderful alternative to the grand, traditional dames of the lake, especially for families who want something that feels fresh, current, and effortlessly chic.
